99 Spec Miata--NEW PRICING $15,500!

I have a 99 SM. 16,xxx miles (that's not a typo). The car was converted to a SSB car in 1999 by a guy on the West Coast who was in Mazda's pocket. It was campaigned in SSB (including Runoffs from 2000-2009) until two years ago when it was converted to a SM. All of the SM suspension bits have 2 seasons on them (less than 10 weekends). The engine was gone through a couple of years ago and is still strong. The car is regionally competitive as it sits (I have 3 podiums, including 1 win in it--in NASA where the 99s are supposed to be underdogs), and could be a nationally competitive, no excuses, car with a motor freshening. As for the body, its got all of the scars you would expect of car that has been raced all its life, but still looks great.

If you are a big guy, this is the car for you--I'm 6'5" and weighed as much as 240 and still had plenty of room and made weight.

I have a current NASA logbook. The SCCA logbook needs to be updated. I have all of the timing plates and restrictor plates to run in either NASA or SCCA. I also have four shelves of spares and fluids and 4.5 sets of wheels (a spares list can be provided).

Build sheet is as follows:

1999 Spec Miata

Body/Exterior
1999 Mazda Miata “Sport”--approx 2160 lbs w/ 1 gal of gas
Mazda chin spoiler
Mazda hard top
Modified gas filler neck
Travel windows
New windshield

Interior/Safety
8-pt welded cage, A pillar bars through the dash
Fresh paint
New Ultrashield Spec Miata seat (17’) w/cover
New adjustable seat back brace
New Sparco 6-pt harnesses (FIA rated)
Momo seering wheel with quick release hub
Wink 5-panel mirror
New G-Force mesh window net
New Safety Solutions right side net
I/O Port camera mount
Long Acre drink system
Radio box
Helmet hook
TraqMate
Cool Shirt
4L SPA fire system
AMB transponder (hardwired)
NASA logbook (current), SCCA logbook (2000-2010)

Suspension/Brakes
Spec Miata suspension kit installed in 2009
New MSM adjustable swaybar endlinks
Mazda Miata wheels

Engine/Driveline
Block refreshed by Terry Thaney Performance Motors in 2007
New Advanced Autosport adjustable fuel pressure regulator
New MSM timing wheel
NASA and SCCA restrictor plates
Green air filter
Davis aluminum radiator
Custom Spec Miata exhaust

Fellow Autobahn Members:

As some of you know, Gail and I (White E46 M3 and spec Miata), and Terry Lubrano (GT3) and his wife Mary Lou, winter in the Palm Springs area of Southern California, La Quinta to be exact. It is a fabulous place! Everything is here...great golf, fine dining, luxury hotels and shopping, top shelf entertainment (Coachella Music Fest, etc), private neighborhoods, great driving roads, nice casinos, a fabulous airport and a fabulous private airport, arguably the best winter hiking in the world, alpine skiing, amazing beauty, etc. It is close to the ocean, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Mexico, San Diego, LA, and Phoenix. It has amazing weather, the only place in the world that I know of where you can snow ski in the morning, and play golf in 78 degree sunshine in the afternoon. But it is missing one thing - Autobahn. There are no race tracks close, and the closest one - Chuckwalla is over 65 miles away, deep into the desert, and though highly technical, it is (in my opinion) currently at least, more for motorcycles.

But there is great news: a new private racetrack called “Thermal Motorsports Track and Club” is being built and is going to be only 15 minutes from the center of La Quinta! La Quinta is now the center hot spot in the area. It would be like building a race track in downtown Chicago along the lakefront.

Me and a few other Autobahn members have investigated it. Those we have talked to agree, it will be the finest private track in the world (no offense to AB, which being the first will always have special status). Also, the owners/management are doing a lot of nice things like including a car stall in the basic membership fees. Terry Lubrano and I have joined and are working with the Thermal management to come up with something for Autobahn members who are interested in joining too. We dont know what it is yet, but either one of us is available to talk to any of you who may have an interest in learning more about the track, and/or the area. Also, for the record: we are not on the payroll nor are we stockholders. We just think this is a great opportunity to get in early, so why not tell our friends about it first?

Here is a link to a video which I believe is not yet available to the public. Feel free to pass it around: http://www.vimeo.com/19471908 (Password: thermal)

Imagine being able to come to the southwest in winter and go to your own track to drive your own car, just like back home, except that your spouse and kids (apologies to driving spouses and kids) will have much more to do.
